My Work

Once upon a time in Québec, a young lad decided to study audio theory at Musitechnic. Armed with a diploma that was about as useful as a chocolate teapot, he set out to conquer the video game industry in Montréal. After a lot of hard work and dedication, he met a team of French students working on 2 interesting games: Fruity Jelly and Rising Inferno.

 

Finally, with some tangible work under his belt, the young lad was able to put his name on award winning games like Roll Turtle, produce a local metal band (Sans Amertume), and even composed the soundtrack for an indie thriller movie called Muse.  

 

Nowadays, the not-so-young-anymore lad goes by the name ''lajeandom'' on Youtube and makes videos about Killer Instinct, and many other games.

Title: Rising Inferno

Rising Inferno was the 1st Place grand Winner of the InnovGame 2010 Contest. The theme of the competition was 'Conquest'. We had only a few weeks in order to make the entire game from scratch while competing against many talented teams.

In RI, you control a demon with a big sword, Diablo, and you must conquer Paradise by killing lots of goofy angels and steal their souls. A shop was available between the levels to take a break and upgrade your character by spending the souls as a currency.

The Music was mostly inspired by Earthworm Jim and various heavy metal bands. A lot of people still consider this album as some of my best work to this day.

Title: Fruity Jelly 

Fruity Jelly is an iOS game that got around 250k downloads back in the days of 2010-2013. In collaboration with one of the biggest French Publishers at the time, Bulkypix, Fruity got many great reviews across well-known websites such as toucharcade.com, which gave it a rating of 4/5 Stars.

In Fruity Jelly, the player had to rotate the level while rolling around in the search of delicious fruits. Many traps and enemies would put your skills to the test, and there was even a boss with a design inspired from Space Invader! 

 

The team was composed of David Sitbon (Graphic Designer), Quentin Secconi (Programmer), Ahmin Hafidi (Game Designer), and I, Dominic Aubin Jean (Music Composer). The music was heavily inspired by my favourite games, such as Banjo-Kazooie, Super Mario 64, Donkey Kong Country, and Paper Mario. 

Title: MUSE

Director: Justin Toppetta-Marino

In 2016, a thriller horror film called Muse was released. The movie follows Alex, who gets a new roommate named Beth. At first, Beth seems normal, but Alex soon realizes that something is off about her. As Beth becomes increasingly obsessed with Alex, tension builds up and the music becomes more ominous, leading the characters down a dangerous path. As the composer of the film's soundtrack, I sometimes had to imagine the scenes in my head before composing the tracks as I only had the descriptions of the latter. This resulted in a weird and scary music style that reflects Beth's unstable mind.

Band: Sans Amerturme

Wow, producing a metal band was an absolutely monstrous task that I took on in 2013-2014! But you know how the saying goes: I bit off more than I could chew!

 

Despite all the difficult moments we had, I still love every minute of of this album! After countless recording sessions with the talented Jasmin Ducharme, Trace Hogan, Martin Moquin, and Mathieu Beaudoin, I was able to mix and master an energetic and sometimes dark metal album.

 

Huge thanks to the band members for their patience and dedication, the final result was incredibly satisfying for a first music production!
